Music, what are you expected to listen to

Just like food, the kind of music you are likely to listen to depends on where in the republic you are located and no it's not all about mariachi.

Mariachi originated from Jalisco is still very popular in center, center-west region, as well as in the touristic places for folklore's shake.

Then there is the love it or hate it banda music, originated from Sinaloa and dominates all the northwest region, that ultimately gains popularity all over the country.

Also very popular is the genre norteño, as it's name reveals this too comes from the north and can be considered as a softer and more bearable version of banda.

What about east and south you may ask? That's another story! From traditional son, danzón, bolero to more modern Latin alternatives like cumbia (very popular to dance throughout the country) and salsa.
